Snow condition
Still ok. However, it wouldn't be enough for everything at high altitudes. But there's a lot you can do now that you couldn't do this winter.
Snow quality
3 stars. In the shady forest down to 1200 (!) and further up in the larch forest really cool! Beautiful, fast, set powder, wonderfully soft to ski. It's been a long time since I've had these sinking depths (4-5 stars) At higher altitudes there was a lot of wind and radiation, so it's only good in sheltered areas. At the bottom in the sun, unfortunately, it was extremely slippery. It was quite exhausting.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: low
Altitude: 1700 m – 2700 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Moderate avalanche situation. If you stay out of the bright south-facing slopes. There has been a lot of heavy shattering today, they have already started to unload today. This will increase with the heat in the coming days. The exposures on the shady side are stable, further up there might be a little bit of drift snow because the wind has already been active over the last few days. And you could also see some nice flags on some peaks this morning.
Overall impression
Very beautiful, but also exhausting day. However, the effort was worth it for the powder in the middle layers. I could have left a little earlier, then it would have been even better at the bottom, but I didn't make it. The whole wide, flat path out into the valley was very swampy in the sun, which made it a little less enjoyable. There will only be a little powder left further up in sheltered and shady areas. Wet, loose and gliding snow will become even more of an issue.
