Snow report Salzburger Land North, 03/29/2014
A little stroll around the Hochkönig
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Below 2,000m, north-facing slopes are not so bad, but south-facing slopes are very thin/green.
Snow quality
It was very warm (about 19C in the valley) and the snow was correspondingly wet and heavy.
Risks
Wet snow avalanches were the main danger. Some of them had already broken out in the last few days, but I didn't see any new ones.
Overall impression
Unfortunately, I didn't have that much time and couldn't go very high. Up on the Hochkönig it was certainly better, although there was a report from the Bergkar that it was also very difficult there.
