You also have to carry snow up to about 1200m-1300m, especially if there is forest above. Still good further up.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

Basically good. Above approx. 2000m between 10-20 cm of fresh snow, some of which was slightly compacted. In between, there were always hard patches or old avalanche nodules. Below that, firny during the day.

Risks

Below approx. 2100 m, there is only a small amount of snow above that, which is sometimes brittle. Fine-grained floating snow is the underlying weak layer. However, the snow conditions change quite a lot on a small scale.

Overall impression

Very nice day on the Kalter, with surprisingly soft snow, although the quality was quite variable.
Didn't meet a soul in the snow on the whole tour, only a few hikers were on the forest path.
Unfortunately, I skipped the steep summit exit due to the blowing snow.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
