Snow report Salzburger Land North, 04/11/2016
Poor visibility, but nice snow

Snow condition
In the northern Alps you can still make 800-1000 m descents, but you usually have to reckon with an additional 200-500 m of carrying/cycling distance.
Snow quality
The fresh snow is damp but quickly skiable and lies on the compact old snow cover. It was quite good to ski. The bottom was also fast and compact summer snow.
Risks
Although it didn't close properly, it was relatively relaxed. The 1 in the morning was a good fit. However, you could hear rockfall several times.
Overall impression
I was half an hour too late today: Unfortunately it closed up completely at the summit later in the morning (visibility approx. 5-10m) and didn't open up despite waiting 45 minutes, so that I couldn't ski the steeper and untracked part of the slope, but only poked down the ascent track. From about 2000m onwards, visibility improved and the snow was very easy to ski. Hopefully the two stragglers who were lost in the fog found each other...
