Snow report Salzburger Land North, 04/20/2017

Snow condition

Ok, for April it's fine to ski from the car, especially if you look at the days before, but overall it's much less than expected. you can start at 1000m, but only on clear forest paths. in the forest it only works reasonably well from about 1500m. I wasn't particularly high, but further up there was a lot of snow.

Snow quality

Unfortunately only a few areas are nice. Best on the shady side in the sheltered forest, and extremely slippery towards the bottom, so that you had to push on the flatter downhill sections... Extremely bumpy on the ascent.

Moderate on my route, but numerous sliding snow chutes, mainly from steep, sunny slopes. I'm guessing that erweiternre has moved a lot at the top, from the looks of it, but there's a lot of subsidence today.

Overall impression

Well, finally outside again and no ski carrying at altitude! Unfortunately, the snow is too sticky overall and the light conditions are still very diffuse on the descentThe best thing is to wax everything, base, skins and topsheet! I can't wait to see what it's like tomorrow, unfortunately visibility is poor in the north.
