Exposition

Snow condition

2 von 5 Sterne
20 cm fresh snow

The fresh snow makes the high altitudes nice and white. Today was a very long day. From 1600 m upwards, it's time for a mountain pine slalom. There's still 2 m of snow in sheltered areas at high altitudes. Let's see how long it takes to get there. :)

Snow quality

Breakable crust
Powder snow
Summer snow
Jelly snow

It's really good almost everywhere: the sunny snow is nice and slushy, the broken snow is nicely softened on the descent and above 1800/1900 m there's 20 cm of settled powder. Only at summit level is it a little wind-treated.

Risks

Fresh avalanches
North

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

I would only assume that there is a certain possibility of dry snow slabs at very high altitudes, and then there is a risk of falling. Mostly small loose snow slides were constantly coming down from the sunny steep terrain. Otherwise, the fresh snow is quite compact and stable.

Avalanche activity

East

Wet loose snow avalanche (small)

Altitude: 2200 m

Overall impression

Worse

It would have been a full 4 stars if the light hadn't become very flat right at the summit. So I couldn't ski down as planned and had to ski rather slowly at the beginning. But the snow was magnificent everywhere and further up there was a fantastic wintry atmosphere.
