Snow report Salzburger Land North, 11/12/2017

Snow condition
From the high-altitude parking lot (1400 m), you could just about get to the ski trail and back again. A few hundred meters further up there was a surprising amount of snow, 20 cm and more. Further up, the snow cover was clearly influenced by the wind, some of the elevations were blown bare (thank goodness it didn't matter in the meadow)
Snow quality
Soaked to 1400, then damp. From 1600 upwards, damp near the ground and on the surface, often drier in between (cold fall, then isolated), all extremely slow to ride
Risks
It is easy to imagine that the heavy, wind-blown snow packs can slide down steep, slippery meadows, triggering a boom near the summit
Overall impression
If the cold front brings a lot tonight, nothing will stand in the way of meadow powder fun on soft ground from tomorrow.
If you start high and stay on meadows, you can actually lock away the stone skis from tomorrow. Harschbichl St. Johann, for example, should be open by then. I'd like to have Tuesday off.
