Snow condition
Strangely enough, there is hardly any snow in the valleys in the western half of the Chiemgau mountains (Achental, for example). In the foothills, however, a good 10cm. That's almost unprecedented. I suspect it's not just the accumulation from the last snowfall, but also a possible lake effect from Lake Chiemsee. Of course, there's more snow in the eternal snow hole Reit im Winkl and east of it. It also looks like a good base in the forest from 900m upwards. The most interesting slopes can be found below the tree line wherever there are enough trees to break the strong wind. Above the tree line and on more open slopes below it, there is still a great risk of skiing over something that is not snow.
Snow quality
To all working people who start tomorrow: Wax tonight. The nights are bitterly cold, the already felty powder snow is quite dull and sticks to warmed surfaces. The widespread surface frost makes it a bit faster and makes a nice rush.
Risks
You can clearly see that the snowpack has already done a lot of settling. In areas that have not yet been tracked, you should keep the frost in mind for the next dump. There are certainly still some areas with drift snow above the tree line, but they are still uninteresting at the moment anyway (see snow conditions)
Overall impression
From Rosenheim eastwards, a journey to the east is recommended, preferably Saalachtal or even further over! It would be interesting to find out whether the Kitzbühel region has been hit as hard as the Bavarian Alps and western Schiemgau.
On the standard tours, the fitness pensioners and unemployed have already covered a lot of terrain, but it's still definitely worth it here. Stone skis stayed in the car and it was already possible to get some speed on the summit slope.
