Snow condition

Not a lot of snow but enough for the whole descent and enough for crampons for the ridge and the Eisleitl.

Snow quality

Wonderfully firny soft snow below 3000, ideal for a fun descent. In the steep terrain after the glacier, very hard hard snow, unpleasant for descent and ascent. In the Eisleitl relatively much drift snow, nevertheless without danger of slipping, on the summit ridge hard, blown-out harsh snow. No fresh snow.

Less tragic than the situation report, mainly because of the frequent ascent of the tour. At lower altitudes, where wet snow can become a danger, the gradient is too low and only settled old snow. At high altitudes, even on sunny slopes, there is no softening of the snow cover. Only drifting snow can become a danger, but not on the Glockner, as snow is usually only removed there.

Overall impression

A very rewarding tour at the moment, but not for long if there is no more onset of winter. Even the variant via the extended Teischnitzkees is still possible.
