You have to be realistic. High alpine terrain is still possible, but the starting altitudes are already correspondingly high. In the less sunny expos, good snow conditions from around 1600m.
Snow quality
With the cold northerly current, temperatures have been quite moderate and you can even still find powder. We were out in a nw gully and there was about 15-20cm of very cold and mostly unbound pow on a compact base.
Risks
Quite relaxed. Over the last few days, the fresh snow has already been unloaded from the sunlit slopes, the day's progress was not dramatic today. No recent departures observed, but heard.
Overall impression
Beautiful tour and I wouldn't have expected powder. Wonderful day, in the high mountains it looks like there's still a good amount of time to go.
