Frühjahrstour im Rauris - schönes Ambiente, aber nur mäßige Schneebedingungen
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
2 stars only if you limit yourself to the higher northern sides. On the other hand, it doesn't look any worse in the high areas on the shaft side than at the beginning of March. You have to walk about 15 minutes from the parking lot.
Snow quality
3000m-2800 W-side: very hard, rough; didn't open up due to the gathering clouds and the strong wind.2800-2300 N-side: quite good. slightly softened crust over a compact cap. But it wouldn't have turned into real firn today. Underneath: Unfortunately mostly very dull and slow slush.
Risks
At least on our tour, there was no sign of a drift snow problem in the higher elevations. The snow cover was very compact and sometimes icy-hard, and on the sunny side there were a few, sometimes larger, wet snow slides.
Overall impression
Great views, nothing going on on our route and quite good snow in the best part of the descent. unfortunately the strong wind was a bit annoying and at the bottom the snow was too slow to really enjoy the ride. Beautiful nonetheless
