Beautiful tour to the Rauriser Sonnblick in slightly too warm temperatures...

Snow condition
The carrying route is reasonably moderate (approx. 20 minutes to Kolm Saigurn and then another 5-10 minutes to the Barbarafall), but overall the snow conditions are poor. Until then, you can ski down the Grünerlenslalom. You can really ski down to the small footbridge, a good distance below the new building, and further up it's okay around the Goldbergkees, but many other routes look bad. almost exactly one year ago, after another bad winter, it was a lot better here!
Snow quality
From top to bottom: The first few meters were very hard and rough, then from 2700-3000m really nice firn. A long stretch of very slow and dull wet snow up to about the new building.the rest was good skiable summer firn-like snow.we should have left a little earlier and waxed the skis better.but it was also much too warm despite the clear night and left the snow damp in the middle layers.
Risks
There have been a lot of ground avalanches, some of them really fat, which have probably occurred in the last few days. This seems to be happening almost everywhere in the Eastern Alps at the moment. For example http://lawinenwarndienst.blogspot.de/2017/05/impressionen-zur-derzeitigen.htmlhier:Bei increasing warmth can trigger wet snow slides relatively easily below approx. 2500m on steep slopes that have not yet subsided.
Overall impression
Always beautiful in Rauris, unfortunately it wasn't quite as good snow-wise as the day before yesterday on the Hocharn.the massive cloud banks, which built up relatively soon from the south, had fortunately disappeared again to some extent for the descent, but the view was also fantastic over long stretches.great crew, very good mood and quite nice snow in places also made it a really fine day.we took the route over the ridge above the Rojacher Haus, which has a few steeper sections to overcome. Crampons are highly recommended for the passages on the shaded side, the trudge through the gully goes well.
