Still more than enough snow on the Gosaukamm. Even the recently blown-off ridges are a little easier to walk on thanks to the recent fresh snow.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

Up to approx. 1300m hard as a rock and difficult to walk on steep terrain. The crossing over into the Weitkar should be done with caution. Slipping is not an option. From 1300m up to approx. 20-30cm of fresh snow. Partly wind-treated, but not tragic. As the LLB already mentioned, a lot of sleet in the fresh snow. Makes it difficult to track in steeper terrain because there is no ground. However, the sleet prevents the snow cover from binding over a large area, which is hardly under tension.

Risks

LLB issues a 2, but refers to tricky drift snow in the shady steep terrain. This reminded us to be careful and we discussed the situation in detail. All the sleet hardly created any tension in the snowpack and the wind influence was manageable, which meant a go for us. Sunlit, steeper slopes unloaded from around midday today.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Last week's tour got us fixated and today we had the extended version with the ascent of the Strichkogel Rinne on the radar. Up to the Weitkar, the snow was unpleasant and we lost hope that today would be good again. From Weitkar onwards there was fresh snow and we had to make tracks. The gully from the Strichkogel was great to ski despite the light wind and the second gully was just as good as last week, this time even the middle section. Only the last section made the seals in your teeth wobble, but that couldn't dampen the permanent grin.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
