Snow condition

2 von 5 Sterne

Around 70 cm of fresh snow in the far Safiental. Base only available in hollows, streams not yet snowed in and not frozen. Insufficient snow below the tree line, start above 1500 m necessary. Once the snow has settled, some beautiful tours should be possible (Tällihorn, Camanagrat...), but due to the poor snow cover, caution on steep slopes for the foreseeable future.

Snow quality

5 von 5 Sterne

Deep powder snow, almost no wind influence, very strenuous track work.

Risks

Large snow slabs in all steep exposures, triggered spontaneously or remotely. Loud booming noises on the running band. A crack has propagated about 200 m through the terrain in flat terrain below thirty degrees from the track. After a long period without snowfall, a very unfavorable base, plus the classic Graubünden problem with unfavorable layers in the old snowpack.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

Very unfavorable conditions for touring, but finally sun and snow. Should get better... More info: Ski and Snowboard Touring Atlas Switzerland - Area 24 Safiental (see www.helveticbackcountry.ch)

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
