Snow condition
The beautiful fresh snow in the morning suggested that the snow conditions would be better than they actually were. From midday onwards, you had to reckon with wood contact in the rutted forest. Overall, there was enough snow to hunt pillows without excessive caution. Overnight there was another 15cm of fresh snow. Nothing works in the forest below about 1600m. Not on the south side anyway.
Video
Snow quality
Fine powder on a soft surface. All in all so much that even falls are fun. No drift snow in the forest. Very blown out near the ridge. Old tracks from the last few days were noticeable but hardly disturbing.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: strong
Above: 2000 m
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
No danger signs in the forest. Further up, drifting snow and lots of wind. Old snow problem above the tree line. In the current situation, great caution is required when choosing routes.
Overall impression
Really good powder day. Would be worth more stars if it weren't for the stressful Innsbruck powder rush. Deduction for the powder-hungry masses. Still a great day.
