Snow condition
The snow conditions are sufficient for the Schlicker Ostrinnen but still poor. The really south-facing descents from Kalkkögeln are only possible with a brush knife. There was about 10-20cm of fresh snow. There are some sharks lurking underneath. Be especially careful at the edges of the gullies!
Snow quality
Very nice powder. In the morning also south-facing over 2000m. Sluff management was not easy in the gully. The crux was unfortunately completely washed out and icy. Below the gullies, depending on the expo, it was either broken harsh snow, good hardpack or powder. At the entrance to the gully there was a little bit of powder, but otherwise not much powder.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: low
Above: 2700 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Little and easily recognizable drift snow. Old snow problem naturally latent.
Overall impression
It is rarely really safe and really good at the same time. Today was such a day in the Schlicker Mandl N/O gully.
