Snow condition
Very little snow for the central Silvretta (Bielerhöhe), as usual this year (less than 1m). Stones or protruding rock heads, especially at transitions and summits. Troughs mostly good.
Snow quality
During the night and morning hours, it usually snowed around 5 cm of fresh snow (dry). Mostly almost without wind and therefore very fluffy and beautiful powder snow. Unfortunately, the amount of fresh snow was a little too small, so only 3 stars.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Overall impression
We were on the Bielerhöhe in the Silvretta last week (starting on Wednesday). Despite the lack of snow, we found very good conditions (for this winter). Many tours were easily doable. Our selection: Bieltalrunde; Schneeglocke (southern Klostertal glacier up to approx. 2800m and Kromerscharte. In parts, I would even describe these descents as 4-star conditions. However, some stony sections (which are common this winter) prevent me from giving this rating. Overnight (sometimes also in the evening and morning hours) there was always around 5 cm of fresh snow. Overall, not much going on and the groups are very well spread out. Tip: Madlenerhaus with extremely good food and a super friendly team!
