Snow condition

Blown backs
Variations of snow cover

Still enough snow from Bielerhöhe. But generally below-average amount of snow in the Silvretta.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Wet snow
Slush
Jelly snow

Unfortunately still rather poor or not yet good. The ascent to the Schneeglocke is hard on the west side and the snow surface is very irregular: wind-pressed, lots of wind-crevasses, deeper old frozen tracks. In the high mountains, the wind and melt have left a very inhomogeneous snow surface. Hardly thawed on the west side today despite the warmth, virtually no downhill fun. The descent through the eastern gully into the Ochsental valley is softened but also very rough and inhomogeneous, alternating between deep slush and hard snow. As the snow surface is so rough, not a nice firn surface. Good firn is probably better to be found in lower-lying tours where there was less wind influence.

Risks

Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne
Equal

Great weather for a longer tour. Snow quality is not yet a joy on the descent; snow surface much too worked by the wind and therefore an alternation of hard, old tracks, wind dunes etc., so that no nice firn can form.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
