Summer skiing 2.0? Yesterday (Sunday 30.03.14) I was out and about in Sölden and the neighboring valleys.

With a lot of effort you can just about get down into the valley. However, you have to use forest paths here. Even the downhill runs in the ski areas are more like water skiing. From about 2000 meters upwards, the situation looks better. There is still plenty of snow here, so you can ski down everything without any problems.

Snow quality

Mainly slush and hard snow. In a few places you could still find some powder or something similar. On the north side it was still quite ok. But when it became even slightly westerly, there was a noticeable drop in quality.

Risks

Relatively safe the whole thing. The snow cover has bonded well. A few loose snow slides, probably from the last big snowfall, were visible. According to the LLB, it was warning level 1 in the morning, then level 2 from the afternoon due to the warming.

Quite a nice day. Nothing special though. One of the highlights was certainly the muddy powder ;) or the game of who can find the way into the valley ;). So unfortunately only 2 stars today.
