Granatenkogel northwest flank

Overall impression
Snow condition
The north-west flank of the Granatenkogel is partly blown away and stony. Otherwise good snow conditions, descent through the Ferwalltal valley back to Obergurgl still possible without any problems.
Snow quality
Wind-pressed powder snow on the summit flank. Harder in some blown-off places, but still easy to ski in others. Further down you can catch good firn, which then turns into rotten snow in the last section back to the piste.
Risks
Some large avalanches have already descended into the Ferwalltal. Due to the warm temperatures, you shouldn't be too late. Even after a clear night, it was already wet on the sunny side early today.
Overall impression
The Granatenkogel has been on my personal to-do list for some time, simply because of its beautiful summit flank. If you do the tour with lift support as in the PowderGuide book, the ascent is limited and you have two beautiful descents (gully into Ferwalltal + Granatenkogel). The ski area had its last day of operation today, so if you still want to do the Granatenkogel this winter, you have to start from the valley. Snow conditions are still easily sufficient. Summit ridge and descent less difficult and flatter than expected.
