Outside the glaciers, you can only ski on trails without rocks or artificial snow. On the glacier areas there has been 30-50cm of fresh snow, depending on the load. However, you can't complain about the first half of October. However, you really have to be careful where you ski due to the very light powder snow. Only possible where there is glacier ice underneath.

Really fantastic, very cold powder snow. The zero degree limit was at sea level in Sölden. Sometimes slightly windy, but that didn't bother us at all.

Risks

We couldn't see anything due to the poor visibility. I think the biggest danger, as always in the preseason, comes from rocks and crevices.

Really great day for the first ski day of the season. The Ötztal glacier was empty except for a few racing teams. This pleased the freeriders and the sun came out again and again. As a result, the few freeride areas next to the piste did offer one or two powder runs.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
