Snow report Sölden, Ötztal, 12/03/2015

Autumn skiing feeling on the glacier. Artificial snow-free ski slopes in the winter ski area are also partially open. Off-piste skiing is out of the question, but some people still...

Snow condition

Very, very little. It doesn't really start until 2200 m, but even on the glaciers there is barely 50 cm. Artificial snow bands down to the valley.

Snow quality

Quite good at the top of Tiefenbach and Rettenbach, very icy artificial snow further down without exception.

Risks

There must have been quite a bit of wind here too. However, there is simply not enough snow below the glaciers, while the main danger at the top comes from crevasses and sharks.

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne

Quite nice for piste skiing in the glacier ski area, but further down the whole thing is more like a suicide mission, as 95% of the (mostly Eastern European) skiers seem to have absolutely no control over their skis. Two stars only because of 3 days of continuous sunshine and 10 degrees at 2000 m.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
