Holsteinstinden ski tour. Super mountain tour, mostly horrible skiing.

At the bottom we went out over the closed slope of the Solheisen area. Then over a shallow gully onto the plateau. There about 20cm of snow, bushes all sticking out. There are also more stones than snow on the slopes and gullies below the summit. The tour makes absolutely no sense for another week or two.

Snow quality

If I could award 0 stars, I would. For the most part barely skiable broken snow. Passages with extremely hard but even snow have already prompted cries of joy. The piste at the bottom was excellent, a few centimetres at the top were soft.

Risks

The gully faces west. As the wind came from the west last week (as it usually does here), there were only a few centimetres of drift snow at the top. Because of this, we crossed out of the gully so as not to take any unnecessary risks.

Cool mountain tour! Long approach over the plateau, nobody met, great view over Hemsedal and alpine challenge (at least for me). Unfortunately too many stones and ice to ski down the gully (several places 50 degrees). We mainly used skis as a means of transportation. After the tour, skiing several kilometers across the plateau is really something!
