Snow condition
It depends on what you want to do. At the top of the Diavolezza you can ski off-piste by the chair. I wouldn't use the latest skis. The couloirs have already been done. The valley descent is also possible with a little imagination and stone skis, as a ski tourer confirmed my observation. Piz Palü and Gämsfreiheit are groomed. The Palü has already been skied. It's best to call GoVertical in Pontresina about crevasses and conditions. The descent from the mountain station to the glacier also looks feasible, but in the Engadin in general there is practically nothing on the sunny side and on the snow side up to 2300m it is more like the base of the base, i.e. defacto unusable.
Snow quality
It was excellent on the piste, but that's not really the point of PG. In off-piste terrain, it's certainly not a lot of fun, but I certainly wasn't itching.
Risks
All in all, it seems quite stable to me. The danger comes more from crashes, sharks and crevasses.
Overall impression
2 hours of skiing in perfect weather and really good slopes. Afterwards we lounged on the terrace. You can do that sometimes ;-)
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
