Exposition
Snow condition
Very rocky in places. We are hoping for tomorrow's south dew, may it bring at least a few centimeters...
Snow quality
Partly powder, partly wind harsh. Lots of stones in any case
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
A nice example today that reflects the current situation very clearly, see below. Interesting also observed now around 1630: Piz Uter (3000m, east of Samedan) has clear wind plumes from the north wind, while Bernina and Palü (approx. 4000m) have clear plumes from the southwest wind. The wind plumes on Palü and Bernina are visible from afar.
Avalanche activity
Dry slab avalanche
Altitude: 2700 m
Overall impression
Except for the many Italians in the area, it's great. Hopefully there will be snow tomorrow. The precipitation map looks reasonably good!
