20 cm fresh snow

Skiing is possible thanks to large snow deposits, but the pistes are below average at best (uneven, hard, icy). In general, there is still very little snow. Off-piste there is about 30cm of powdery snow directly on the ice. With good knowledge of the terrain, there are at least limited opportunities for a few first powder turns. However, you absolutely need glaciated terrain without crevasses and without rocks on it. Where there are crevasses, these are still open, some of the rocks are already slightly covered in sugar. Unfortunately, where there is still ice, there are a lot of stones on top...

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and fresh snow to kick off the winter season. As the pistes weren't much fun, we quickly made a few shorter laps in the backcountry. As is typical for Stubaital, it doesn't take too long and the first people are traipsing down the ascent track on foot, thanks for ploughing :-) Info and pictures from 03.10., with the warm front and the stormy wind the good powder is destroyed again.
