Snow condition

15 cm fresh snow

Variations of snow cover

The snow conditions did not change much at the beginning of October, only more artificial snow was produced during this time. On the glaciers there is usually between 0-40cm. Without a glacier base, no tours are feasible.

Hard, pressed snow
Powder snow
Wind drifted snow

Despite the storm at high altitude with gusts of 100km/h in some places, there was some surprisingly good powder snow. Other areas, however, were partly blown down to the glacier ice

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
West North-West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Due to the long period of fine weather, the snow had built up on the north side over approx. 2900m. At the moment, the main danger comes mainly from slightly snow-covered crevasses and hidden rocks. From tomorrow, depending on the amount of fresh snow, the avalanche risk will also be taken into account.

Overall impression

Better

Did a few short laps of the glacier and took in all the slopes that are reasonably easy to reach. Definitely makes me want to do more, unfortunately there are no snowfalls in sight to really increase the touring options.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
