Snow report Stubai Valley, 01/12/2015
Storm and some fresh snow on the Stubai Glacier

Overall impression
Snow condition
There is snow, and above around 2300m there is even a kind of base, which is more than you can say for most other areas in Tyrol. Still, not much snow for mid-January. You can get down to the valley with difficulty, but it's not recommended and it's no fun either. Further up, the wind has raged and ridges, ridges and some glacier ice have been completely exposed again. Troughs and gullies are now rather well filled... Little fresh snow (estimated at a good 10cm) which has really been completely blown away.
Snow quality
Thanks to the very strong wind, the three stars are only very narrowly awarded, one could also give two. Large areas completely blown away, i.e. hard old tracks, otherwise often wind harsh. In some blown-in areas, very windy but soft powder snow...
Risks
Critical, somehow logical with so much wind. Steep terrain should be avoided, especially as off-piste skiing is only fun in very windy terrain anyway. Some medium-sized snowboards either came off as self-releases or were blown up.
Overall impression
Well. Actually not too bad, but just too little of everything: too little base, too little fresh snow, too little good snow. The only positive thing was that there were too few people...
