Snow condition

The snow conditions increase rapidly south of the Brenner Pass. The starting point of the tour at the end of the Pflersch Valley lies under a thick blanket of snow, with good skiing down into the valley in all exposures. No ground or stone contact, wonderful! In addition, there was about 5 - 10 cm of fresh snow in the night from Thursday to Friday

Snow quality

In the wind-protected areas below and around the tree line, the perfect, fluffy powder (at least in the northern exposures we skied) could hardly be better. With increasing altitude, the influence of the wind increases, but the storm has obviously not raged quite as much here as north of the main Alpine ridge in the last few days, so that below around 2400m you can still find very good, somewhat wind-compromised powder. Only in the immediate vicinity of the ridge is there a layer of wind-blown hardpack on the snow cover.

Quite critical in the areas close to the crest that are strongly exposed to the wind, rather unproblematic below that. The risk of avalanches can be minimized by choosing a sensible route.

Overall impression

Perfect weather, good snow over long stretches, a great day in the Pflersch valley! Only the wind harsh in the areas close to the crest prevented the five stars.
