From the Trins parking lot at 1300m, you first have to carry about 1 km. The snow cover is too thin here. Skiing is possible up to about 1400 m and from 1600 m the base grows rapidly. Above that there is enough snow to ski in the sparse forest. At least on the north side, on the south side it looks much worse here.

The few centimetres of fresh snow at medium altitudes were very quickly transformed by the sun in the morning and lay like a layer of firn on top of the harder layers. At around 1800 m it was a bit sheltered and there was still good powder snow (between 10 and 20 cm). Old avalanche boulders are still coming through, however, and the snow cover has also fallen quite inhomogeneously due to the wind. Especially in the ridge areas and ridges it is blown away.

Risks

The danger was drift snow above 1200m. Above the tree line there are some drifts on the surrounding slopes. Opposite at the Bergeralm extreme drifts but overall very little fresh snow. Small loose snow pellets observed due to the warming below steep terrain. Corresponds with the short LLB of today.

If you have the green valleys behind you and take on some altitude, you can find good powder snow. The conditions around the Gschnitztal are good but not perfect at the moment. For the next few days: On the north side there are definitely still a few fine gullies to the left on the ascent to the Padasterkogel. (See photos) Other exposures run the risk of getting a melt cap, as already happened in the afternoon. And from below, the warm temperatures are nibbling away at the snow cover.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
