Snow condition
The snow conditions are still not bad, but the wind once again played along and moved a lot. Many ridges and ridges are free of snow and a lot has melted away on the south side. Even after the heavy snowfall of the last few days, many variants don't look optimal/bad (e.g. Schaufelspitze). You can tell that it's slowly becoming spring.
Snow quality
Lower end of the three-star rating. There was a lot of wind at work, wind cover in almost all exposures and heights. Other places completely blown off and then heavy/moist at the bottom. Fresh snow varied between 0cm and 40cm depending on the wind.
Risks
Quite critical today. Massive wind loads throughout the area. Several explosions were quite successful and (smaller) snow slabs triggered by skiers were also observed. Below 2000m there was additional moisture penetration, which caused problems... Defensive behavior was the order of the day!
Overall impression
Well, we suspected it: a massive storm and high zero degrees are not good harbingers for a good day on the mountain. Nevertheless, we gave it a go and at least caught a few nice turns. Nice turns and soaking up the sun was the order of the day. It could have been worse, but you could probably have done without it ;-)
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
