Snow condition
In the north-facing terrain, the snow conditions are still good for almost all the higher tours. Exposed ridges are partly blown away, gullies that need a lot of snow are not all continuous. Below 2200m, however, it has already melted a lot in the last week and will continue to do so...
Snow quality
Above 2700m there was 2-10cm of powder to be found on pure north-facing slopes. At 2500m it was already wet at 10am/probably never really dry. Soaked snow cover further down. Tomorrow will probably be slush on flatter north-facing slopes at altitude. Significant wind influence on exposed slopes.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Above: 2700 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
The main danger currently comes from the initial soaking of the snow cover. The old snow problem from early winter is therefore becoming more relevant again. High alpine also still present, but currently fewer danger spots.
Overall impression
Even a few mm of fresh snow can greatly improve the conditions with a smooth base. Nice round and probably one of the last days when there is still powder away from the north faces even at midday. After cold powder up to 1200m last week, spring has finally arrived in the Tyrolean mountains.
