The descent into the valley via the wild pit may no longer be entirely possible, but you can still reach the valley directly below the gondola lifts. I won't say anything about the quality of the snow on this descent. But I don't think anyone will be under any illusions on the 1st Mia. The snow conditions on the mountain are quite good. All known variant slopes are easy to ski. Rocks that were visible for most of the winter are now covered in snow. We had the idea of skiing down to the valley via the Daunkopfferner. But as the chairlift was not in operation, we didn't do it. But I also doubted how far down into the valley we could have gone. There was between 5 (middle station) and 15cm of fresh snow on the mountain.

Well, it really left a lot to be desired. If you had taken a closer look at the readings from the weather stations (see pictures), you could have known that in advance. There was a lot of precipitation (black line) but hardly any increase in snow depth (red line) -> all really wet snow, hardly a trace of powder. Skiable but not much fun. You could also see tracks all over the mountain, as you would when it rains on a blanket of snow. But since there was no broken snow, ice or anything like that, we still give it 2 stars

Risks

Really interesting. 1. no LLB in the morning, at 19:30 an LLB was issued due to increased avalanche events. Warning level 3! And rightly so. Wet, spontaneous loose snow avalanches could be seen all over the mountain, in all exposures and heights. Many boards were also "cut" by winter sports enthusiasts. Due to the small amount of fresh snow, most of them were rather unproblematic. However, some were quite considerable and carried a large and above all heavy amount of snow that could at least seriously injure you. The sliding layer was also interesting, as it looked very pronounced and flat. I hope this doesn't remain right in the snow cover. If so, in combination with the predicted snowfall for the weekend, it could make for a tricky situation!

A beautiful day on the mountain and fresh snow are definitely worth 2 stars, especially at the beginning of May. With the precipitation and on the glacier, I would have expected more, so no more than 2 stars
