Hochtour im Stubaital - vom Skigebiet Stubaier Gletscher zu 2 einfachen Gipfeln
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Quite different. The precipitation of the last few days may have brought some fresh snow, but this is mostly settled and you get the feeling that it was hardly more than 20 cm. we skied down to the middle station after the tour. It is possible, but the snow was already very slushy and slowed us down considerably.
Snow quality
A bit of everything. We still found dry snow on a north-facing slope above 3300. About 10-15cm on a hard surface. But it was quite easy to ski. There was also some firn. But where the exposure isn't right, there's also half-frozen tracked snow...
Risks
No more LLB since May 1 - Due to the fresh snow of the last few days, there are more and more surface slides, also some new wet snow avalanches. All in all, however, quite predictable. On steeper north-facing slopes, the 5-10cm of fresh snow on the old smooth base has sometimes come off as a board.
Overall impression
A very nice high tour. There is certainly still a lot possible on the glaciers, but as they only open at 8:00 a.m. and without a lift, the approach to the snow is a bit tedious, but not easy to find the right timing.
