Stubai Glacier - Nothing off the beaten track
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Still very little snow. There was more this winter, but some slopes were blown down again thanks to the Föhn storm. Slopes open up to the middle station, Wilde Grubn is covered with snow. Unfortunately, off-piste skiing is still out of the question, even at the top it doesn't look good in the standard variants. There is still a lot of snow missing :/
Snow quality
Relatively hard slopes, but no surprise due to the artificial snow and the fact that it hasn't snowed properly for a while.
Risks
Not uncritical. You could see a few slab avalanches around the area. The biggest one was on the steep slope between the Daun and Eisjochferner glaciers, where the snow cover + debris had slid down to the glacier ice, and at the edge of the crack you could see that there was a weak layer close to the ground and another possible weak layer at approx. 30cm, where there was a compact layer of snow of approx. 40-50cm on top. A stable old snow cover definitely looks different.
Overall impression
Sunshine and not so busy. Time to brush up on your jumping skills in the fun park and quite good conditions for skiing. Unfortunately, you still have to be patient with freeriding
