Snow report Stubai Valley, 12/11/2014
Föhn on the Stubai Glacier
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
More or less unchanged for some time now, as only insignificant amounts of snow have actually been added over the last two weeks. You can ski where you could a long time ago, lower-lying/blown-off areas are still pretty snow-free. The upcoming foehn has now blown the areas where there was only 20cm of fresh snow completely clear again, i.e. you can now actually see right away where it's really rocky and where it's not.
Snow quality
The wind has destroyed a lot here. In a few areas you can still find soft drift snow, but mostly hard or windsnow.
Risks
With the strong wind (very large snow plumes everywhere today) there is only bound snow, there are now also various weak layers, I would avoid steep terrain.
Overall impression
Quite nice, albeit cold and windy weather. But snow would be really important, not only to make more terrain accessible, but also to improve the snow quality again.
