There's still plenty of snow in the Ortler region too. Glaciers are well covered in snow, the highest peak in Trentino is easily accessible on skis.

Snow quality

Powder snow

Surprisingly good conditions. Apart from the mostly wind-affected ridges and summit areas, mostly direct changes from settled powder to firny areas.

Risks

No warning signs
South South-West West

Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)

The predicted old snow problem in the northern sector did not affect us. However, many northern slopes were also skied all around.

Instead of 6 days in the Western Alps, we used a two-day window of good weather in Trentino. The ascent on the first day was very selective due to clouds and wind, but luckily it cleared up at the crossing and the descent to the hut was completely free of wind and clouds. Then, as predicted, two days of the best touring weather, all summits doable in the best conditions. On the last day, the royal stage with the direct descent back to Sulden. Lots of snow and perfect conditions on this route too.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
