Ski tour in Sulden
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Unexpectedly bad. We couldn't go on our planned tour due to a lack of snow, so we had to change our plans. However, we didn't regret it, as it was really only a very short walk there and back thanks to a ski slope without a carrying passage.
Snow quality
Unexpectedly good. Almost scratching the 5 stars. A bit sugared in the valley, further up from west to north to east exposures around 30cm of the finest powder. Uninteresting on the south side anyway as there is too little snow even at high altitude
Risks
Quite good, snow rather weakly bound, with little wind influence. However, on our ascent in a fairly steep couloir, it was still not without problems. According to the LLB, the old snow cover should be stable.
Overall impression
Mega "alternative tour" today. The downhill skiing was really great, even if we couldn't make use of the good fresh snow all the way down to the valley due to a lack of snow. We weren't in the ski area, but in my opinion there's still a lot of snow missing for decent off-piste skiing, especially towards the valley! However, I have to deduct points for the lack of snow and the bad weather. Surprisingly, there was almost no wind.
