"Medium conditions" in the new year

Snow condition
The Sonnenkopf has received an astonishing amount of snow. Bushes, stones and the like are closed, with the exception of blown-off areas. Rock bands still peek through here.
Snow quality
What looked quite fresh and easy this morning turned out to be rather difficult to ride. Below 2000 m, the snow became very heavy and "sticky". Above that, it was up to 5cm fresh, but over a large area on a hardpack that breaks easily.
Risks
On the Sonnenkopf, especially at high altitudes (above 2200 m, Glattinggrat), strong winds and therefore large snow packs. These are difficult to recognize due to the layer of fresh snow. Outside the pistes, there was little to nothing going on today.
Overall impression
New year, new luck. We headed to the area early in the morning in the hope of picking up some powder. The first impression: perfect, the tourist masses were still hungover in bed, everything was empty. However, the snow quality on the untouched slopes was rather mediocre, so it may snow here again this week. The good snow conditions will certainly make it a lot of fun.
