Snow condition
Extremely modest ...The Allgäu has received (almost) nothing from the current nordstau, except for the storm, which has significantly exacerbated the driving snow situation. More on this later. You can start skiing from around 1,000m (and ski back down on a groomed ski slope). But it's not much fun to go off-piste. There's only enough snow in gullies and hollows and that's where it's rather dangerous at the moment.
Snow quality
There was everything from frozen hoar frost grass to a thick slab of ice, broken snow and even a bit of powder in the gullies.
Risks
Very tricky, above the tree line! We didn't try the descent in a couloir. On the mountain, right next to us, two people tried it and cleared half the gully. Not at the entrance, but only after about half the descent, in the gully. We were lucky. Nothing happened this time. The drift snow lies on the above-mentioned ice crust and just slides, from a certain steepness.
Overall impression
Apart from the weather today, with quite strong winds from almost all directions, you can forget the rest. Better to wait for the forecast dump. Then the Allgäu should finally get some of it.
