Snow report Tannheimer Valley, 01/05/2018
Visually still vulnerable - the snow quality was already much, much better

Snow condition
Descents down to the valley at 1000 m still possible. The south side is over.
Snow quality
Bad ! North side above 1300 m hard as a rock. From icy to swampy heavy, in between - towards evening - with a nasty layer of harsh snow on top. Until noon there was some firn on east-facing slopes.
Risks
Even on moderately steep meadow slopes, many ground snow avalanches have already occurred. Snow cover is heavily soaked. Yesterday it rained heavily in places up to 2000 meters.
Overall impression
Because it was such a beautiful evening atmosphere and the snow cover was still sufficient, we gave it 2 stars. The snow quality was not even worth one star and after the headlamp failed when I switched it on, I gave it an adventure star. I hadn't done any descents with a mobile lamp either (-;
