basically unchanged. a maximum of 5cm of fresh snow arrived above approx. 1600m. you still need a ski slope to get down into the valley. in the backcountry there is some snow from approx. 1500m and above the forest line everything is blown over. ridges, edges and crests are mostly free of snow.

we were on the north side again today and went over the zirleseck and the west ridge, up to the rohnenspitze and then down the north flank for the descent.picture 1 shows the technology infrastructure that you have to come to terms with during the ascent. the piste is a cheek and actually consists of just one single slab of ice. asking money for it is borderline, but it is probably paid. in the forest there is still some pow, but it is completely rutted and there is minimal fresh snow. above the forest everything is crusty and capped. in the northern flank it is completely powdery. the cap breaks, however, with the right dynamic skiing style. underneath there is sometimes a layer of hardpack, which makes the whole thing even more interesting. in the northern flank you basically have a free choice of route, except for the various pothole fields. no shark caught.

Risks

the tiroler 2er, above the forest border, fits today. there is little fresh drift snow, but it has only been deposited in small, localized areas. on the north side, no gliding snow mouths have been seen.

the zirleseck is no fun any more. the area around the ascent track has been frozen in and (almost) resembles the ice slab ski slope further down. on the ponten, some of the east coulis were probably already skied yesterday (picture 2). the west ridge to the rohnenspitze is mostly free of snow. however, some shady sections are partly icy. the descent through the northern flank is doable, but a little tricky in places due to the slab powder and the layer of hard snow underneath. the ski slope is not worth any further comment. the weather was sensational again and it was already quite warm in the sun. all in all, just a three. with the hope of fresh snow ...
