Variations of snow cover

well, there's snow again now, even down into the valley, but below about 1500m there's nothing. basically, it's worse now than it was in kw50 last year. i'm also sure that with the predicted warming we'll need ski slopes, sledge runs or "groomed (by whatever)" forest tracks again from the coming weekend to get back down to the valley on skis. unfortunately, not much of the announced powderalert arrived in the eastern upper allgäu.

Snow quality

Powder snow

very good, cold pow. due to the high fog, up to the summits, it also held up well on the south side today. unfortunately there was only sun on the summit.

Risks

Cracking (When entering the snow cover)
East South-East South

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

strong wind today, from all directions. but there are no big drifts. however, there is drift snow everywhere, which is extremely brittle. the lawi, with a three, above the forest line fits. below it, the drift snow packs are rather thin and the two also fits, because there is much less snow.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne
Worse

will get worse and trickier with the forecast warming. tomorrow should be quite good again, also on the sunny side.
