Snow report Tannheimer Valley, 02/06/2017
Not Bad .....afterwork Tour
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
North-facing descent down to the valley - on the mountain north exposures over 100 cm (depending on wind influence)
Snow quality
5-10 cm of fresh snow came from Sunday to Monday (snow line was at 700 meters). Quality = fine powder on a hard base (below 1500 meters), above 1500 meters 15-20 cm on a grippy base -> great to ski. Somewhat disturbing large old snow / avalanche piles, but these are easy to spot.
Risks
not too tricky in the Tannheimer Tal, tours up to 2200 m - old snow / wet snow avalanches have already subsided. At higher altitudes we will still have to deal with small-scale drift snow deposits for some time to come.
Overall impression
Not Bad - much better than expected - downhill in the valley on the forest road better than in other years. There were even a few powder turns in windy north-facing slopes and gullies. Started with few expectations and arrived grinning ...... So very close to the 3 star
