Snow condition
without a ski slope you can't get into the valley properly, but that was already the case before the big rain. snow, from 1000m. up to about 1500m it's not much fun in the terrain. today we were mainly on the north side, up to 2000m, where there is pow up to the knee in blown-in areas. free choice of line, taking into account terrain obstacles, e.g. blown-off spots and large stones, possible.
Snow quality
very best pow. in the ridge area it blows off well and you often slide around/off on the ice crust from the heavy rain. further down it gets better quickly and you can really step on the gas. the pow was really loose and light all day and there was dust on every turn. there is also still some untracked pow for tomorrow.
Risks
safe, at least that was our impression. we didn't notice/release anything even in blown-in areas. in the 40° area there is some sluff, but it runs out quickly. we saw a lot of loose snow slides on the south side, triggered by intense sunlight.
Overall impression
1.star for the good weather. 2.star for the brilliant pow. 2.star for the free choice of lines and 4.star for the two best runs of the season so far.
everything done right today.
