Descents to Schattwald were possible but the dense forest should be avoided. In general, the exposure in the Thannheimer Tal is decidedly west-northwest, except for the Graß. East and northeast are probably best filled with snow. South is partly blown off but varies. In general, there is not much snow. Bschießer and Ponten didn't look very rewarding (blown off). That's why we chose the forest runs on the north-east side. There 20 cm of powder on a compact base, but here again we were skiing with the handbrake on. Tree trunks, branches and roots are only slightly covered in places. You can see what Storm Sabine has uncovered in the pictures.

Northeast sector was good, compact snow but not strongly wind-pressed. Above the tree line, some of the snow was blown free down to the ice crust.

Risks

However, heavy drifts also blew away a lot of snow completely, so the drift snow packs were quite small. New snow is still not well connected to the old snow.

Weather day after it was clear that the wind and the snow situation made a ski tour pointless. We still found some nice runs around the north-east sector.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
