Snow condition
There is very little snow in the Tannheim mountains. On the north side, ski tours can still be started from the valley or you can use the ski slopes for access. The last snowfall fell from Sunday (16.2.14) to today with around 5cm in the valley and 20cm at 2000m. As a result, the conditions were very good today and the snow was powdery. Unfortunately, the warming in the afternoon caused the snow cover to thaw to around 1400m.
Snow quality
Around 10-20cm of fresh snow fell on a hard base last night with hardly any wind influence. For this reason, you could ski in the finest powder snow today as long as the sun didn't affect the snow cover.
Risks
The avalanche situation was less worrying. Close to the ridge, attention had to be paid to drift snow and on south-facing slopes, sliding snow slides (see photo) could be observed.
Overall impression
Today you could still find very good conditions and have a lot of fun, especially in the northern exposure.
