The amount of snow in the northern Tannheim mountains is good. It is possible to start from the valley for the most part. Due to the warm days and the rain last Thursday and Friday, the fresh snow from the beginning of the week has already been decimated. After it rained quite high up again on Saturday (perhaps up to 1500 m above sea level), around 5-10 cm of fresh snow fell from Saturday to Sunday at 2000 m under the influence of the wind. So today it felt pretty good and like really nice powder snow on the descent in the blown-in areas at 2000 to 1400 m above sea level. The temperatures yesterday and today are low again and the snow cover is frozen again.

The snow quality exceeded all expectations. The finest powder snow can be found. The temperatures are cool and the snow cover, which was still wet at the start of the weekend, has frozen again. Added to this is the snow from Saturday/Sunday. These 5-10cm of powder snow lie on a hard layer of harsh snow and were great to ski on.

Risks

Basically, the situation is good, but I still think caution is required. The crests, ridges and even entire slopes were heavily blown in and the influence of the stormy wind was obvious. The danger of wet snow cover has decreased again. There were still old wet snow slides from last week from steep, ridge-near and rocky terrain and blown-in areas.

We had a nice powder snow excursion and the weather above the high fog was brilliant.

PS: Funny! I just saw that sumedum was already here yesterday. Even if my information is now somewhat superfluous. The CR has already been written. Then I'll deliver the departure pictures that were missing yesterday due to poor visibility :-)
