now winter 2020 is getting its act together after all ;-)

Snow condition
the best starting position this season!!! from about 700m it's white. at about 1000m there is up to 10cm of fresh snow. further up, quickly up to >30cm.both the tyrolean lawi is right: "... much more has come than expected", as well as the baron:"... the dump goes down into the valleys." you can really do something with this snowfall limit. i was out today in the allgäu foothills, south, east and north, below the tree line. even in the forest there is now enough snow to ski down without any worries. no shark caught.
Snow quality
already much too warm again in the valley. heavy pow, ascent in a sweater quite pleasant. north-facing and in wind-calmed areas, very nice pow. not too fluffy anymore, but very good to ski. also in oldshool style, with quite narrow, stone skis.
Risks
the bayer. lawi fits. quite safe below the forest border. see picture 1. (approx. 30cm of fresh snow, last fallen probably without wind, on quite hard old snow base). holds quite well, even in drifting snow areas. in ridge areas everything blown off and transported. locally some drifting snow and it is quite brittle. re-evaluate according to bianca, or read tomorrow's cr ;-)
Overall impression
it was the best day of the season in terms of snow conditions. visibility was still quite good, but thick clouds came up quickly. at the summit there was a very strong, cold wind from the west, with snow starting to fall at 1.30 pm. the pow, which was already quite heavy, was perfect to ski. today was really rewarding, although i imagine something else under the influence of intermediate highs, but in this winter you have to be modest.
