Snow report Tannheimer Valley, 03/08/2018
Somewhat steeper ski tour in the Tannheimers, with some quite unusual views

Snow condition
At the very bottom of the Lech Valley, it's slowly getting tight on the south and east sides. But it's just about okay, even on the descent. Today was already quite spring-like, with sensational weather. There was fresh snow overnight, right down into the valley. At the top, max. 15cm of fresh powder. Above the tree line, an unpleasantly cold SW wind, sometimes over freight strength.
Snow quality
The pow stayed very nice on the north side all day. Below approx. 1400m and in the forest, no supporting base. Above that, brilliant conditions that also allow steeper descents.
Risks
Take care on ridges and crests. The fresh drift snow there is easy to release even below 2000m. I kicked the track wedge loose a couple of times when I was making my way up and turned back at some point because it would have been even steeper above that.
Overall impression
Great tour, in an impressive landscape. Nobody else on the way. On the north side 15cm of brilliant powder on the descent. Plus sensational weather.
For 5 stars it should have been a bit colder and there should have been a bit more snow in the valley.
